Back To Golf ... Rory/Luke odss

Post by Doc on Fri Dec 09, 2011 10:04 am

Not had chance to see any of today's action, and only heard bits on the car radio, but Seems Rory is n 3rd so far, but 7 shots clear of Luke? Early days yet of course, but was Rory worth the 7 shots over Luke. Who else shone today and whats your feeling on favorites for this?

a lot depends on MMs health.

That virus and the blood tests could be pretty critical. I see this going to a 'lesser light' at this stage.

T minus one and one half (hours) and counting until Simon Dyson tees off by himself due to Y.E.'s shoulder injury. Never would have thought that Dyson would have found himself in this position after round one, 13 strokes behind Peter Hanson. Likewise, Ernie and Retief holding up the bottom end for the 6 Saffers entered.

Also disappointing are Poults' and Karlsson's first round given their recent form. Westwood and Kaymer can't be happy and neither should Casey and Luke. The Molinari brothers at -1 are in better shape than their recent play would indicate.

The House of David, Horsey and Lynn, is in very good standing as are 2 of 6 Spanish Armada, (no surprise here) Sergio and Alvaro. Rock and Fisher also make for a good and surprise beginning.

The nonmusical trio of Peter, Paul and Rory are playing a mean tune. I'm choosing Charl as the lone shark ready lurking in the shallow waters. He wasn't one of my fantasy picks and now I'm wondering why.

Hopefully Mav will come to the rescue and pen a worthwhile piece before the Order of the Road to Dubai Merit festival has concluded. Must get a few winks now as the midnight broadcast time comes early in Southern California to catch the best season finale in the golfing world.

Very interesting battle shaping up, Rory needs to win with Luke finishing outside the top 9 if he is to take the R2D title.

And guess what, at this early stage, Rory leads and Luke is 10th! Long way to go, Luke is a quality player and I fully expect him to put in a little spurt to move up the leaderboard over the weekend.

A very interesting weekend looms ahead...........

Feet up in front of the TV watching the golf for me this weekend, then. I hope Mrs Merc doesn't have any plans for me.

I'm looking forward to a weekend in front of the TV, too. RTD is shaping up nicely. As well as the golf, there's European Cup rugby on too. I'll be cyclops by Sunday night.

I would love Rory to do it but I think even if he does win I think Luke will be snapping at his heels and probably pick up a top 5.

But who knows with 36 holes to go anything can happen and frequently does in golf.

Apparently Simon Dyson went around the course today in 2 hours 5 minutes.

It's no surprise that he's last but still . . .

Turned the telly on when I woke up this morning....to see Sergio putting with a normal putter again. Had to clean my glasses and look again..why's he changing something that wasn't broken (recently)?

Rory, the master of butchery today. Luke could easily have been 2 shots better than his -4 so far thru 10. Kaymer, awaking from a year long slumber and giving himself a chance to win 2 in a row? Poults starting to come to form. Sergio has bogeyed the par 4 9th each day but in the hunt. Quiros has somehow missed shooting himself in the foot and remains even par for the day. Even LW1 is sneaking up despite 3 bogeys. Great movement up and down the board. bounce

I would suggest it was because he wanted to feel like a man again.

Maybe Sergio can't really tell the difference - men always get confused about length! Basketball

Can the same be said about the ladies and width? cheers

Rory and Jamieson the only ones in the field without a birdie today. No

And he just misssed another.

Luke reinforcing his grip on Number One. How long can he withstand the "no majors" label? Has to grab at least on this coming year or it might fester and eat at him like 'some' others.

Luke also swinging so beautifully that it's a shocker when he's not putting for birdie on almost every hole.

Casey's putting has let him down. Could easily be 6 or 7 under for the day.
