An actual golf thread Empty An actual golf thread

Post by LondonJonnyO Fri Dec 09, 2011 8:00 am

Since I am allowed to post here, even though it's still under the guise of 606v2, I will start a golf thread. But not before a comment. I've been posting infrequently on another forum although I've not really gotten into it. I have maintained a link to the site that spawned this place and have read some of the various comments.... What I think about it all would be censored in a French brothel so I will refrain from comment.

Now.

The golf thread.

I recently went through a tough period in my game. I have a young lad, and another en route, and playing and practice time is somewhat down. D4S and NST, with one or two others can attest to the fact that my game has seriously slipped in the last 18 months. That aside I decided to build a new swing from ground up. It's a hard process when you have limited practice time but things are looking up.

I advise anyone struggling to seek advice from a true professional...

Now. Who's got head issues that I can sort out? Like the true nutcase I am.

LJ good to hear from you again mate. On the subject of golf ...... You recently splashed out on Miura wedges, well today young man, I've splashed out on Miura CB501's, but opted for Yonex wedges. Are you still pleased with Miura's?

I only bought the one. A series 57 c grind 57 degree.

It is without a doubt the best wedge I have ever owned and I am due to replace my 54 with another miura when it is ready for the recycle bin. The shots I can play with that club and the feedback I get make a vokey feel like a £2 dunlop from JJB.

When sorting out the deal for 501's I looked at Y-Grind and got the horn, checked out the c as well, but found that the Yonex cheapster was as good results wise. But just know a better player would get full value out of them, but is that Y sexy or what

I tried a few out... The Y, a couple of Vegas (which were awful by the way) and they C completely outclassed them..

While I can see why they might be considered a better players tool the grind is just so so good and the feel is better than anything else.

Just had my nike blades reshafted and am getting more feel out of them but if I hadn't I would right now be sticking a set of 1957 baby blades in my bag. They are that good.

Well I hope you put your game back together soon. By the way the only thing I don't like about the Yonex is the 8-10* bounce, whereas the Miura C is about 5 isn't it.

last week when looking at the Miura's I tried these: (You need to google Yonex EZone Blades) because I'm not allowed to post a link yet

They are the best looking club I've ever seen, but I couldn't hit more than 56% of them off the middle. What balance and feel though, but I'm not good enough to play blades obviously

The miura c is 14 degrees at 57 loft. But the narrow sole and the amount of relief makes it play really well from so many different lies. Very versatile.

As for my game.. it's coming. Although I have it in me to shoot 100 or 70 right now. Fortunately more of the rounds in the last month have been sub 80 rather than the other way around. It'll start to work.

Always nice to have the family back together again.

And having seen what you went through LJ and how long it has taken you, I think I'll stick with my 'too short, too quick' swing. I do not have the time left to change.

Metal spikes on tomorrow I think, I'm playing with Doc. Oops sorry mate, I didn't see your new shiny Miuras there. affraid

If it helps OS it is getting to the point where it's worth it... I'm hitting my irons a lot longer and flatter now. Much more consistent with the 2 and 3 which is what I wanted.

Now all I want is the driver and 3 wood to behave. I'll be back sub 70 sometime next year I think. More so as El RINGER has been keeping an eye on my putting. lol!

Aah putting - now there is a subject I know everything about. Was considering changing my name to dead eye dick the curse of the green sward. Then I woke up!

Driving et al is another issue all together. Things have been going really well on that front and I lust over my little cobra 5 wood, looking for its big brother, but you know me, tight as a ducks arse.

Does that matter when you can pick up a Terrylium Cameron for 20p or whatever it was?

Disgraceful!

OS I was hitting all manner of drivers this afternoon, and opted for the Cleveland. Looks pug ugly but even with the stock shaft, I was getting better club head speed, ball speed, less spin, and better dispersion. he's fitting me a trick shaft which hopefully knock some of the left to right out. R11 felt good, but think white bling is a bit uncool, Titliest was ok, but no speed, Adams was great believe it or not but just couldn't get any distance with it. he even swapped a couple of shafts, but not much gain. The shaft he's putting on the driver is well light, a new 3-wood coming too, Cleveland again, but 2 fantastic utility clubs from Adams 20 and 24* (Peanuts he calls them) Ready on Monday, so that'll be 2 sets .... Need to hide one before she gets back 8)

And it was a whole £1 LJ as you well know. Even I couldn't knock him down to 20p, I mean, chunter...chunter...chunter
